It is but three weeks until Samsung’s Unpacked event where they will unveil the Galaxy S20 lineup (along with the Z Flip and new Galaxy Buds). This close to the announcement is usually the time where all the big leaks occur and this time is no different.

Overnight Ishan Agarwal and 91Mobiles have shared renders and some details of three variations of the upcoming phones — the Galaxy S20, S20+ and the S20 Ultra.

First up, the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. The S20 Ultra will start at €1349 for the 128GB version and be available in Cosmic Grey, Cosmic Black and Cloud Blue. It will feature 2.5D glass on the Infinity-O display, not the 3D design which is more curved as seen in last year’s flagships.

As you can see in the images the camera module protrudes quite significantly from the rear of the phone but you would expect that given its chops: it has four visible sensors including a periscope sensor which will offer up to 10x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom (Space Zoom). There is also apparently a fifth ToF sensor but that is not seen on the renders .

The Galaxy S20+ will be priced at €1099 and be available in Cosmic Grey, Cosmic Black and Cloud Blue. Once again the 6.7-inch display will be 2.5D instead of the 3D curved glass — interesting to see other manufacturers move to the curved glass but Samsung, who make all the displays, realise that curved glass is a useless gimmick and move away from it.

The Galaxy S20+ will have four sensors on the rear but not have the Space Zoom lens that the Ultra version has. Along with a ToF sensor there will be a 12MP primary lens, 64MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens.

The lowest spec phone of the bunch, the Galaxy S20 will start at €899 for the 4G version and €999 for the 5G version. It will be available in Cosmic Grey, Cloud Blue and Cloud Pink.

The camera module will house all three main sensors that the S20+ has but will not include the fourth ToF sensor. The 6.2-inch display will once again feature a 2.5D display.

Samsung looks to be producing some great devices once again at several price levels. The Ultra is set to be a beast of a phone with an amazing camera — maybe Samsung will raise the smartphone photography bar even higher with this phone.

Whatever the case we can’t wait to find out and see these in person in a few weeks time. I am looking forward to getting my hands on an Ultra and putting that camera through its paces. How about you?

what is 100X digital zoom! does that mean “convenient in-app camera cropping!” ?
still interested in seeing what they come up with, love me some Sammy phones but wish they had an IPS option cause I (literally) burn through those screens too fast
