In just under a week OnePlus will take the wraps off their new flagship smartphone range revealing all. Unfortunately, even with OnePlus trying to control the dissemination of leaks through their own media channels, we have learned quite a bit about the devices already. Overnight though was a huge specs leak that revealed all about the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro.

Winfuture, who have a good track record at accurately revealing unreleased details, managed to get their hands on more renders and all the specs of the upcoming devices. As you would expect the devices pack some impressive specs with the Pro version having truly ultra-premium smartphone specs with very little missing.

There is now 30W wireless charging, IP68 waterproofing, a 120Hz refresh rate display and a quad rear camera — things they have not had before due to pricing restraints. We have listed all the specs revealed below:

All of these specs can be added to the huge list of details that we already know about the upcoming OnePlus 8 smartphones. Roland Quandt of Winfuture also revealed on his Twitter page a new Interstellar Glow colour coming to the OnePlus 8 this year:

Of course will all of these specs you would expect the pricing for the OnePlus 8 series to be quite expensive — and it is. Leaked by retailer Alsa.sk the European pricing seems to be more than last year. 2019 saw the OnePlus 7 Pro priced starting at around 750euros but this year it looks set to start around the 900euro mark:

  • OnePlus 8 w/ 8GB RAM, 128GB storage: €719/729
  • OnePlus 8 w/ 12GB RAM, 256GB storage: €819/829
  • OnePlus 8 Pro w/ 8GB RAM, 128GB storage: €919/929
  • OnePlus 8 Pro w/ 12GB RAM, 256GB storage: €1,009/1019

This is a significant increase in pricing but still not quite up there with Samsung Galaxy S20 pricing. The S20 Ultra starts at around €1,349 while the S20+ starts at €1,099 for the 5G model so if you put it that way the OnePlus phones are not that expensive but there are much more expensive than they have ever been before — but then have we ever had such a Never Settle, complete smartphone from OnePlus before?

Do not expect these prices to be a direct comparison to US pricing and prices in other parts of the world. Pricing in Euro is notoriously high when direct comparisons are performed. Hopefully it comes in a fair bit cheaper for those of us who want to purchase one.

At this stage it is unclear if, and probably extremely unlikely, OnePlus will officially come to our shores this year — especially in the current climate but with specs like this in a phone that looks this good you can be sure that if it did arrive here it would sell like hotcakes.

At those prices might as well go with an S20 or iPhone 11 with local warranty.

Chris

It was nice knowing you OnePlus but you have jumped the shark with those prices. Goodbye and good luck but you have seen the last of me.

No word on the Lite variant?
