Google Assistant is meant to work across the entire Android ecosystem but there are still bugs, especially with its use on Android Auto. One such bug has been occurring where Assistant would refuse to answer due to it deeming the internet connection not being good enough.

The issue occurs after dictating a message to your Assistant, just before sending and although was first reported on a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 running Android 10 it seems to occur on a wide range of mostly Samsung devices along with some other manufacturers as well.

With 1220 upvotes on the Google support forum it is obviously widespread and is not just on a single type of Android Auto unit but also on a widespread variety. Google have obviously been watching and two days ago replied to the five month old thread saying that a fix has been released in the latest Google app.

The new Google app version number with the fix is 11.15.14 and you can either grab it from the Play Store when it rolls out to you or download it and sideload it onto your device from APK Mirror. The release notes for it include:

  • Use voice commands while navigating – even when your device has no connection. Try saying “cancel my navigation” “what’s my ETA?” or “what’s my next turn?”
  • Weak connection? If your search fails, the Google app will deliver you results once you regain connection.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues with more helpful error cards when your search fails because your device is offline

If you have had this issue head on over to the Play Store or APK Mirror and install the new Google app version now to fix it. What other issues have you had with Android Auto? What do you want Google to fix or do with Android Auto next?
