Steph Curry - Via YouTube

Steph Curry is one of the biggest names in international sport. He has three NBA Championships, two MVP awards and 1.25 Million YouTube subscribers to his name — oh and he has single-handedly changed the game of basketball forever. Steph is now set to host the YouTube Originals Ultimate Home Championship (UHC) on his personal YouTube Channel.

The virtual fundraising event will feature an array of sports teams and individual stars from a variety of backgrounds:

The competition features some of the most exciting athletes and sports talent on YouTube, including Von Miller, Lindsey Vonn, Ronda Rousey, DeAndre Jordan, Ryan García, Kristopher London and The F2 and “sideline commentators” including ESPN’s Katie Nolan, gaming superstar Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, and Saturday Night Live’s Ego Nwodim.

The premise is to entertain while raising funds for a good cause while major sporting events are on hold. The winner of the competition will proudly boast the title: World’s Greatest At-Home Athlete. Early indications are the gruelling events may include laundry hamper basketball and DIY high jump.

The UHC follows in the footsteps of other YouTube Originals content that focus on the COVID-19 #WithMe initiatives, entertaining and educating viewers during the COVID-19 lockdown across the globe. The content has been executive produced by Stephen Curry himself. This has been helped along by Curry’s Multimedia company, Unanimous Media and Portal A.

Funds raised will be donated to the World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund with viewers encouraged to donate directly on the “Ultimate Home Championship” watch page. The show premieres at 9am on June 26 on Stephen Curry’s YouTube Channel — Saturday, June 27 2:00am AEST for the locals.

The available information suggests that the show is going to be a lot of fun to watch, involve some big personalities and raise money for a great cause. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one, will you?
