realme is the world’s fastest growing smartphone brand and they have been making a concerted effort to push into the Australian market over the past 12 months. Next up for them – and Australia – is what the company is calling a mid-range flagship, the X3 SuperZoom.

The X3 SuperZoom is designed with photographers in mind, with an 8MP periscopic SuperZoom lens (5x optical zoom) that sits above an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 64MP main lens and a 2MP macro lens. The quad rear lens is capable of 60x zoom in theory and with OIS promises steady pictures even at that zoom. The front-facing camera is no slouch either, with a dual front-facing camera setup (32MP and 8MP) on offer.

The display is a 6.57-inch 120Hz refresh rate, 1080P LCD display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Being an LCD display it has the fingerprint sensor built into the power button rather than under the display.

The realme X3 SuperZoom is our latest premium device, and is the perfect option for those looking to up their photography skills, stream their favourite film or play the latest games with their friends.Andy Yang, MD of realme Australia

Under the hood the X3 SuperZoom offers the best chipset for the last half of 2019 — the Snapdragon 855+ which was good enough for ultra premium devices then so is certainly good enough for a mid-range device this year. Combined with either 8GB/128GB or 12GB/256GB memory options the smartphone promises to provide a fast, enjoyable user experience.

The UX is realme UI on top of Android 10. realme UI is in turn based on ColorOS, and has very similar features that ColorOS has but unfortunately brings many of the quirks as well.

The X3 SuperZoom houses an NFC chip for Android Pay support, Bluetooth 5.0, dual SIM support and a 4,200mAh battery which is charged using the usual OPPO/OnePlus/realme fast charging. realme call their fast charging Dart charging and allows you to charge your phone at a very quick 30W speed.

The X3 SuperZoom is available from this Thursday, July 2, in Glacier Blue and Arctic White colours with the 8GB/128GB model coming in at $699 and the 12GB/256GB model, which is exclusive to JB Hi-Fi, at $799.

The new realme X3 SuperZoom will be available from the realme e-store, JB HI-FI, Officeworks, Bing Lee, Make it Mine, mobileciti, 5GWORLD, Essential Appliance Rentals, Amazon, Kogan, eBay and Catch.com.

If you want a really good mid-range smartphone then you should head in-store and check this beauty out. We will have a review for it publishing in the next few hours.
