Google held its Launch Night In event this morning and released exactly what we were expecting, two new Pixel phones the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5, a new Google Chromecast with Google TV and a new Nest Audio Smart speaker. With all of the devices coming to Australia you can reserve your pre-orders now.

Pixel 4a 5G

The Pixel 4a 5G is Google’s second affordable phone for the year, with the updated model sporting a larger screen, second camera, newer SOC and of course 5G. At $799 it sits perfectly between the Pixel 4a’s $599 and the new Pixel 5, you can pre-order form any of the links below.

The Pixel 5 is Google’s latest top of their line device. With more modest specs than the competition, Google is hoping that the $999 price tag will lead consumers to try a solid device at a lower price.

Vodafone pre-orders of the Pixel 5 get a free Best Speaker valued at $149 – ordered mine yesterday, on a $40/mo plan with a $5/no discount

Rod

I don’t understand the pixels. Each year, there’s always a hardware compromise or two (ram, battery, grande notch, etc). That trend continues this year, with a mid range SOC, as well as a confusing lineup that’s just way too similar (pixel 4a 5G vs pixel 5).

The Chromecast with Google TV looks interesting, as does the Nest audio.

But still unfortunately no Pixel Buds at JBHiFi. so those of us that preordered our Pixel 4 last year cant use our gift cards on them.
