OnePlus built their entire company on offering high quality phones at an extremely affordable price. Although their prices have increased over time their popularity and quality have not. To fill that void in the lower end of the price range this year they have introduced the Nord range. Overnight they introduced another two phones to their Nord range of budget devices.
The two new phones are the Nord N10 5G and the N100 with the former the better of the two.
The Nord N10 5G arrives sporting a 6.49-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate and powered by a Snapdragon 690, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Impressively it will arrive with Warp Charge 30T to charge the 4,300mAh battery. The camera will be a quad read camera setup with a 64MP main lens, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro and a 2MP monochrome lens with a 16MP front-facing camera.
The Nord N100 on the other hand will sport a 6.52-inch display and will be powered by a Snapdragon 460, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The battery will be charged at a “normal” 18W rate but will be a massive 5,000mAh. The rear camera is also a decent step down with the triple rear camera sporting a 13MP main lens, a 2MP bokeh and a 2MP macro lens. Its selfie camera will be an 8MP lens.
Both phones will arrive with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a rear fingerprint sensor and will disappointingly arrive with Oxygen OS 10.5, not the newer Oxygen 11 that is already on several of their phones.
As you’d expect with those specs the pricing is extremely competitive with the Nord N10 5G arriving in Midnight Ice for £329 and the Nord N100 in Midnight Frost for £179 with US pricing set to be announced soon.
Considering the volume of low to mid-range phones already here in Australia it seems a bit foolhardy to import one of these but there are many supporters of OnePlus here in Australia, and let’s face it, Oxygen OS is not just streets better but galaxies better than the software on nearly all of these competitors in that price bracket.
I have just about given up on OnePlus coming to Australia officially, maybe next year?
I’d rather buy the vivo Y20s which also uses the SD460 and has local warranty even though the Nord N100 is tempting as a grey import.
If only OnePlus would start selling officially via Kogan even amongst the grey imports or JB, etc.
