For those of us who deeply love tech Christmas normally comes about two weeks late when CES kicks off. While this year COVID 19 has made the event all digital that doesn’t stop the presents from rolling in. Kicking off this year’s big announcements is Sony with their annual TV release.

Sony is an important brand in Australian TVs offering devices at multiple market segments, and of course, for Android enthusiasts, Sony was an important brand because they supported Android TV natively. Now Sony has announced that among other tech improvements all of their Australian 2021 BRAVIA XR line up will ship with the latest Google TV UI and updates.

Along with wide Google TV across the lineup, Sony has also included HDMI 2.1 compatibility, Google Assistant and Alexa integration and the new Sony Cognitive Processor XR designed to deliver enhanced visual and audio performance.

So, what models are we getting?

I just hope they haven’t also dropped DTS, otherwise that is really going to limit the TV brands I can buy so I can hear my media.

Just found this press rellease from Sony Australia that suggests the 83″ and 65″ A90J will be the ones we get hopefully ?

I was wanting the 83″ A90J. I hope they WILL be available in Aus or they just lost a customer. Not happy Sony Australia.

hi, I am interested in purchasing a Sony TV model A90j (Aj90) in size 55 inch, OLED, 4K. Could you advise me when pricing is available and give me the name of a retailer who will sell me this model.

Thanks,

Doug

any word on whether these will support 4k/120?

When I say that… I say whether they will support out of the box – as their existing TV that “supported it” required a subsequent update and it has been not the best.

So no 83″ A90J for Australia? Not that I could afford one… :-/
