On Feb 23rd a whole new category of content “Star” is being added to Disney Plus Australia with with just over 600 total more TV series and movies from 20th Century Studios, Disney Television Studios, Touchstone and more. With that comes a price rise for any new customer who signs up after Feb 22nd for a monthly plan or any existing customer who changes from a monthly to annual plan.

Sign up before Feb 23rd to lock in the existing price. Australia: $8.99/month or $89.99/year. New Zealand: $9.99/month or $99.99/year.

Prices will be locked in until the next renewal after 22/08/21. Prices for new subscribers will be Australia: $11.99/month or $119.99 /year. New Zealand: $12.99 /month or $129.99 /year.

There are no no lock-in contracts you can cancel at any time, though obviously if you pay a year in advance your money is wasted if you cancel earlier.

Besides lots of new content there will also be more Parental Controls enabling you to separate me-stuff from kids-stuff.

Even at $11.99 Disney Plus is a really great deal compared to STAN and Netflix top packages that cost $19 and $20 a month respectively.

In fact you could subscribe to both Disney Plus Australia $11.99 and Amazon Prime for $6.99 (which includes Amazon Video, Twitch Prime etc) for a combined price about the same as just a single premium STAN or Netflix streaming plan.

What do you think of the new STAR content coming to Disney Plus Australia and the associated price rise? Please let us know in the comments.

Glad mine renewed last December.

We’ll be able to stream Firefly again! But Serenity is missing. Blu Rays still have a place.

How many connections do you get for the price?

My guess is that, like the other streaming services, regardless of when you cancel your future payments you will still have access to the service until the end of your paid period.

The Disney+ website is dreadful at explaining what’s included in the new Star section.

Thanks John. I wasn’t too worried as I signed up for an annual fee in December, more pointing out the appalling Disney+ website. Good to be able to see the options available though.
