realme the world’s fastest growing smartphone brand, is breaking down the barriers to 5G accessibility in Australia with the realme 7 5G launched for $499.

The realme 7 5G is equipped with mid-band 5G capability, 120Hz display and 30W fast charging for the 5000mAh battery – all for a price that doesn’t break the bank.

Commenting on the launch of the realme 7 5G, Andy Yang, Managing Director of realme Australia, said:

“2021 is the year that 5G becomes a reality for Aussies across the country. At realme, we want to pave the way in ensuring all consumers can benefit from the capabilities of 5G by delivering pound for pound the best 5G device on the market”.

“The realme 7 5G is our latest innovation that demonstrates our longstanding commitment to providing premium devices at a friendly price-point. This device combines all the features that we know Aussies want. From exceptionally quick 5G download speeds, to an ultra smooth display, the impressive 5000mAh battery and fast charging capabilities, the realme 7 5G is a game changer when it comes to making premium accessible to all.”

The Mediatek Dimensity 800U system on a chip enables dual SIM 5G + 5G capability which is a rare feature. On top of all of this, the device also supports advanced 5G technology on both NSA and SA networks.

NSA (Non-Standalone Access) and SA (Standalone Access) are the two 5G network modes. NSA relies on 4G network facilities to provide more speed and higher data bandwidth. A 5G-enabled smartphone will connect to 5G or 4G network depending on conditions.

On the other hand, SA is a true 5G network, where the 5G network has its dedicated 5G facilities to provide enormous speed improvements and minimal network latency (delay). A 5G SA network is independent of the 4G network.

Thanks to the 5000mAh battery realme says battery drain anxiety will be a distant memory. They promise up to 35 hours of calls or up to 17 hours of YouTube entertainment.

The realme 7 5G comes with 30W Dart charge, a low-voltage (5V) and high-current (6A) solution that charges the phone at a decent pace, filling up from 0 to 100% in just 65 minutes or 60% in 30 minutes.

Equipped with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage capacity and expandable storage of up to 256GB, users can download all the features, apps and tools they desire, whether they’re a passionate gamer, TikTok enthusiast editing endless hours of video content, or a keen photographer.

Surprisingly for a lower mid-range priced phone the realme 7 5G features 120Hz ultra smooth display refresh and and 180Hz ultra-high touch sampling rate on the 6.5″ full screen, with impressive 90.5% screen-to-body ratio.

If you like to listen to music a lot the realme 7 5G supports Dolby Atmos & High-Res Audio with a old school headphone jack included.

realme say the 7 5G has Quad Cameras which is kind of true. Similarly to many competitor Snapdragon 6xx 7xx mid range phones these 4 cameras are: 48MP main, 8MP ultrawide, and the low resolution 2MP macro and 2MP portrait which are not very useful. On the front you’ll find a 16MP selfie camera.

Good job, Realme. This is a feature packed 5G device for $500 and basically more than enough phone for 90% of people. The lack of AMOLED is probably the only downside, but hey, for $500 you can’t have it all.

This will definitely help with competition and hopefully make others take notice.

There’s also the Motorola Moto G 5G for $499 with its SD765 6GB/128GB which was the cheapest outright 5G phone in Australia till now.
