Today OPPO announced the launch of the Find X3 Pro 5G, OPPO’s first smartphone that both captures and displays 1 billion colours.

We’ve been interested in this phone for a while and like many were impressed by the futuristic sci-fi style product launch video leaked recently by Evan Blass featuring the Find X3 Pro 5G’s premium design, impressive quad camera and screen.

Examining the detailed specs, it should be noted that the Colour Gamut changes depending on the mode you choose with Gentle mode displaying the fewest colours and Brilliant mode the most (Vivid mode 97% NTSC/100% DCI-P3, Gentle mode 71% NTSC/100% sRGB, Cinematic mode 97% NTSC/100% DCI-P3, Brilliant mode 104% NTSC/100% DCI-P3).

Powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 888 5G Mobile Platform, OPPO hopes the Find X3 Pro is a lucky performer for them this year.

In Chinese numerology, 888 means triple fortune, a strengthening of the meaning of the digit 8. For this reason, addresses and phone numbers containing the digit sequence 888 are considered particularly lucky, and may command a premium because of it.

Speaking at the new series launch, OPPO Australia Managing Director Michael Tran said:

“OPPO is known for developing and delivering innovative products and the new Find X3 Series pushes that to a whole new level. With the Find X3 Pro 5G, we wanted to help customers bring colour to life, giving them the tools to capture and see 1 billion colours on a device that not only performs but exudes style and elegance.”

The OPPO Find X3 Pro 5G is the first smartphone to combine two primary 50MP cameras (wide-angle and ultra wide-angle) and leverages Sony IMX 766 imaging sensor for photographers to take their art to the next level.

The Find X3 Pro also delivers 10bit image and video processing – typically associated with professional DSLR cameras – that yields truly high-quality video with wider dynamic range and colour depth. This offers even more creative expression through post-production – ideal for those who want to push the limits of their content.

Further taking advantage of its 10bit capabilities, using Cinematic Mode, the Find X3 Pro comes with 4K imaging, a broad dynamic colour range and log format video recording. This offers full manual control over ISO, white balance, shutter speed and focus – making it truly a videographer’s best friend. Plus, the Find X3 Pro debuts an ultra wide-angle camera with a freeform surface lens that helps drastically reduce distortion around the edges of photos and videos.

Bringing a new level of display excellence, the Find X3 Pro uses a 10-bit full-path Colour Management System to capture, store and display photos and videos up to 1 billion colours. The power of the 50MP cameras combined with the 1 billion colour display of the Find X3 Pro provide a pro-level colour accuracy right in the palm of the hand. In addition, apps, games and entertainment will look smooth thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate and QHD+ resolution.

OPPO has focused on creating a premium, futuristic design and so the camera module is encased in the back panel, blending with the clean and slim design and creating a unique feel in hand, some will love it and for others it will be quite controversial as most big camera bumps tend to be.

The Find X3 Pro is great for creators on the move, being built with durability in mind as it features a robust bezel as well as IP68 dust and water resistance.

It will be interesting to see in real life use how the fast the latest Qualcomm 888 5G mobile platform depletes the 4500mAh battery.

Even if it does drain fast you have 30W AirVOOC Wireless Flash charger (sold separately) which goes from 0-100% in just 80 minutes while we estimate that the included wired 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 Flash Charge will be able to refuel the phone in about 30 minutes.

OPPO Find X3 Pro 5G is available in Australia in Gloss Black and Blue for pre-order from 1st April at an RRP of $1,699.

As part of the new Find X3 family, the OPPO Find X3 Neo 5G and Find X3 Lite 5G also launched at the same event.

Just like its bigger brother, the Find X3 Neo delivers a powerful quad camera using the same 50 megapixel Sony imaging sensor on the main camera. With the use of both optical and electronic image stabilisation, the Find X3 Neo aims to deliver crisp shots even if the subject is in low light or moving. And, with its 90Hz AMOLED display, HDR10+ compatibility and 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 Flash Charge, it’s great for streaming or browsing.

With the Find X3 Lite, users can take advantage of the best of the Find X3 Series’ features in a more affordable package. The smartphone comes with the same premium, elegant, yet ultra slim design and also runs on Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 765G Mobile Platform. Combined with a powerful quad camera, AI imaging and 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 Flash Charge, the Find X3 Lite brings the core of OPPO’s Find X3 technology to a wider audience.

OPPO Find X3 Neo 5G will be available in Starlight Black and Galactic Silver on pre-order from 1st April for RRP $1,199.

OPPO Find X3 Lite 5G will be available in Astral Blue and Starry Black on pre-order from 1st April for RRP $749.
