Microsoft’s own-branded machines have come a long way from the original Microsoft Surface, and far from being just tablets with attachable keyboards, there’s now a whole range of devices which capture Microsoft’s vision for how personal computing has evolved.
Taking the range further today is the new Microsoft Surface Laptop 4, which continues the “traditional” laptop style line offered from the Redmond, WA. company. Promising the perfect balance of style, power and beauty, the Surface Laptop 4 is very definitely a Microsoft styled device, incorporating a 3:2 PixelSense touch screen in either a 13.5-inch or 15-inch design, and you can pick from an Alcantara finish or a more traditional all metal design.
The new model promises longer battery life, the latest Intel Core processors, built-in Dolby Atmos Omnisonic speakers and an exclusive Ice Blue colour for those looking for a bit of visual appeal.
There’s also the usual inclusions which today’s users have come to expect – a front-facing HD camera and studio microphone array for the ever increasing video meetings, a built-in touch screen for a more natural interaction with your work, and you can choose between Intel Core and AMD Ryzen processors to suit your style of work.
Starting from AUD$1,599/NZD$1,749, the new Surface Laptop 4 is available for pre-order at the Microsoft Store on microsoft.com/en-au and available to purchase at Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, Noel Leeming, PB Tech, and other major retailers starting 27 April 2021.

The Microsoft Surface Pro’s biggest upgrade is a USB-C port. Don’t buy the $750 model — The low price is tempting, but I don’t recommend this configuration at all. The slow dual-core Intel Core i3 processor and paltry 4GB of RAM won’t be sufficient to do much computing in the long term.
