If you’re a gamer, then you know the joys of having a high-performance gaming setup. Lenovo recently unveiled a host of new hardware for gamers under the Legion brand with laptops, mice and monitors headlining. Both 15-inch and 16-inch laptops, with great screen options and peripherals to complement the set.

Lenovo Legion 5 Pro Series

In a first, the Legio 5 Pro delivers a 16-inch WQHD+ display, offering up to 240Hz adaptive refresh rate and a 90% screen-to body ratio. The screen has Dolby Vision ensuring your viewing is a peak all the time. The specs aren’t just good, they’re right at the forefront of laptop technology:

  • 12th Gen Intelยฎ Coreโ„ข i7-12700H processor or next-gen AMD Ryzen processors
  • Up to 32GB (SKU dependent) of 4800Mhz DDR5 memory
  • GeForce RTX 30 Series Laptop GPU
  • Up to 1TB (SKU dependent) PCle SSD (Gen4)โ€‹ storage
  • Wi-Fi 6E for maximum throughput and minimum lag
  • Thunderbolt, USB-C, USB-A, HDMR and Ethernet connectivity
  • 80Whr battery with up to 135W USB-C charging that can restore 80% charge in 30 mins
  • HD Webcam with privacy shield
  • RGB Backlit keyboard with customisable profiles
  • Nahimicยฎ Audio by SteelSeries offering smart noise cancelling for a sound tuning, noise-cancelling and directional sound

High performance and laptops usually result in a lot of heat, so the redesigned exhaust and fan system target heat reduction. The copper block, coupled with thinner fan blades results in more efficient and quieter cooling for your system.

Designed to be durable

Having cutting edge specs is great, but if the physical chassis is fragile your investment won’t last, which is a terrible user experience. The body of the Legion 5 Pro is designed to be durable with an aluminium and magnesium chassis, lightweight and even has specially designed hinges to prevent bumps.

While it’s clearly aimed at gamers, the Legion 5 Pro Series will be more than capable as a desktop replacement. The specs are high enough that even content creators would be able to achieve daily workflows. The Lenovo Legion 5i Pro will be available starting in April from $3,299.00 and the 5 Pro (AMD Ryzen) from May with pricing to be confirmed. Both Intel and AMD options are available in Metallic Storm Grey and Pearlised Glacier White.

I hope Lenovo has rectified the lack of fingerprint reader on their current Legion Pro gaming laptops, for these new models.
