Amazon Australia is on friendly terms again with Visa again so Australian customers can use Visa credit cards to pay for items on Amazon.com.au without any surcharge.

The companies had been in a dispute for some time over the amount of fees charged for Visa credit transactions by Amazon customers.

Amazon’s email to customers this afternoon  says:

“We’ve recently reached a global agreement with Visa that allows all customers to continue using their Visa credit cards in our stores”.

“As of 17 February 2022, Visa credit card purchases on Amazon.com.au will no longer incur a surcharge. To add or update a payment method, go directly to Your Account or visit the help page on Add and Manage Payment Methods”.

In late 2021 Amazon.com.au introduced a Visa credit surcharge of 0.5% on some purchases in Australia and Singapore.

Reuters is reporting the following statement from Visa:

“Visa is pleased to have reached a broad, global agreement with Amazon. This agreement includes the acceptance of Visa at all Amazon stores and sites today, as well as a joint commitment to collaboration on new product and technology initiatives to ensure innovative payment experiences for our customers in the future”.

If you choose to make a Visa credit card your default payment choice on Amazon.com.au again, make sure you check all the different Digital eg Amazon Prime and Subscribe & Save subscriptions eg Coffee that you have, as I found I had to manually change some of those over from Mastercard.
