Oppo’s new Find X5 Pro was launched late last night Australia time. The blazing fast 80W Super VOOC wired and 50W wireless charging speed continues the brands heritage of setting the standard in Australia for super fast safe phone charging.

Pricing and availability via retailers and mobile telcos is unavailable at present and we have asked Oppo if the Find X5 Pro will support mmWave 5G. We’ll let you know once we find out those details.

Michael Tran, Managing Director of OPPO Australia was enthusiastic about the launch:

“Find X5 Series showcases the continued elevation of the Find X series, both in terms of capability and aesthetics. With the announcement of our new series we are raising the bar for flagship smartphone performance with OPPO’s best-ever technology and product experience”.

“MariSilicon X — our recently-unveiled self-designed imaging NPU — makes its debut on the Find X5 Series. Additionally, we’ve joined forces with Hasselblad to bring its Natural Color Calibration to our new flagship range. Elsewhere, many of OPPO’s breakthrough innovations can be found on the Find X5 Series such as our upgraded 360° Smart Antenna 3.0 ensuring stable connectivity”.

Your choice of look for the Find X5 Pro is Glaze Black or Ceramic White with prominent Hasselblad branding. As you would expect for a flagship phone it’s splash, water and dust resistant with a IP68 rating.

The 10bit screen is a 6.7″ ultra-clear curved AMOLED with a WQHD+ resolution, 100% P3 colour gamut coverage, displaying more than 1 billion colours.

Oppo says that Find X5 is the first OPPO smartphone series to incorporate the best of Hasselblad software – Hasselblad Camera for Mobile – to enhance and finetune the colours of your photography.

Keen eyed readers will spot that there are only 3 lenses on the prominent camera bump: main, wide and telephoto. Last year’s unique microlens has been dropped.

The rest of the major changes compared to last years Find X3 Pro are largely under the hood.

As I guessed in my earlier Find X5 rumours roundup the Main and Ultra Wide Angle cameras use the same Sony IMX766 sensor as the Find X3 Pro.

However Find X5 Pro comes with an upgraded 32MP front camera for selfies and the main camera has a new 5 Axis OIS for better stabilisation. All the camera lenses use the new MariSilicon X Imaging NPU to create better images especially in low light.

Oppo says MariSilicon X enables 4K Ultra Night Video for the first time on an Android smartphone, with each frame as clean as a still photo night video.

As expected the Find X5 Pro will be powered by the multicore Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor however I didn’t expect an 11% increase in battery life thanks to the new bigger 5000mAh battery.

Alongside the Find X5 Pro, the Find X5 and Find X5 Lite also launched today.

Find X5 also includes a powerful set of features with the dual IMX766 camera system powered by MariSilicon X imaging NPU, a 6.5 inch 120Hz billion-colour display, support for 80W SUPERVOOC charging, 30W AIRVOOC wireless charging and more.

Find X5 Series owners will have access to OPPO’s premium International Warranty Service, which can be used at over 2,500 service centres in 62 countries and regions across the globe.
