Lifestyle audio brand, Ultimate Ears, which is a sub-brand of Logitech, has announced the launch of two new portable BlueTooth speakers, the Wonderboom 3 and the Hyperboom, both aimed at consumers that want portable, clear Bluetooth speakers to share their music with friends or more.

Speaking at the launch of the Wonderboom 3 and the new Hyperboom speakers, Jonah Staw, general manager of Ultimate Ears has stated:

“There’s no question people love our speakers, which is why we’re so thrilled to be adding to our fleet with the new WONDERBOOM 3 and our fan-favourite HYPERBOOM in white,” and that “With these additions, we’re delivering brilliant, crisp sound, sleek colours and the cutting-edge innovation our customers seek with the added benefit of increased use of recycled materials in WONDERBOOM 3.”

So what do the Wonderboom 3 and the Hyperboom speakers offer, let’s have a look, shall we?

Wonderboom 3

The Wonderboom 3 is a follow-up Bluetooth audio device to the Wonderboom 2, is made with 100% recycled polyester fabric and a minimum of certified 31% post-consumer recycled plastic, which the company states gives new life to recycled end-of-life electronics.

The Wonderboom 3 is the smaller, portable Bluetooth speaker that brings 360° sound, alongside a crisp, bassy audio quality that lasts up to 14 hours with a full-stereo boom. The Wonderboom 3 also comes with an IP67 rating, meaning that it’s waterproof, dustproof, and floats if placed in a pool, but I wouldn’t suggest doing this regularly.

The Wonderboom 3 comes with a 40-metre Bluetooth range, and you can link it up with other Wonderboom 3 Bluetooth speakers to help crank up the volume with the ability of simply pressing a button to pair both speakers together whilst pressing again for true stereo from both speakers, with left and right channels.

The Wonderboom will come in four colours at launch, including Joyous Bright (Grey), Hyper Pink, Performance Blue, and Active Black.

The Wonderboom 3 will be able to be purchased from August 31st with an expected retail price of $149.95.

Hyperboom

The Ultimate Ears Hyperboom Bluetooth audio speaker is the loudest and bassiest speaker to which the company is stating a fresh upgrade that brings with it a wide dynamic range that brings your music to life, rendering every note in rich detail, and a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 24 hours.

The Hyperboom also supports four input sources — two Bluetooth, one 3.5mm auxiliary and one optical audio, meaning you can, via the touch of a button, easily switch between the music from your phone, laptop or gaming console.

Furthermore, the Hyperboom comes with adaptive EQ which the speaker will read the environment and automatically adjusts the sound to fill any space. The Hyperboom also comes with an IPX4 rating and can also charge your smartphone thanks to the inclusion of a USB charge-out port.

The Hyperboom is supported on the Ultimate Ears BOOM app, available from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, which the app will enable users to set up favourite playlists, remotely turn the speaker on or off, adjust volume and more. Furthermore the app can also help ensure your device is working correctly but also provide software updates as they are rolled out, but also enable users to connect and pair their Hyperboom speaker with other speakers such as the Boom, Megaboom or other Hyperboom speakers using the app’s PartyUp feature.

The Hyperboom speaker will come in a new White colour and will be going on sale from September 9th for $599.95.

I’ve had multiple UE speakers (I’m actually listening to one right now) and they’re fantastic. My UE Roll is aging and the battery doesn’t hold it’s charge very well any more so I was keen on the Wonderboom 3, however…

MICRO damn USB!!!!!! WHY!!!!!!

I’ve slowly been updating all my portable electronics to be USB-C only, my UE ROLL was the last stand out, and they release a good quality replacement with MicroUSB!? WTAF!
