Well, it’s only a few years too late but it looks like WhatsApp may soon support linking a tablet to your main account. The change has been spotted by the team at WABetaInfo, allowing companion devices and without the shared network requirement.

In order to link a WhatsApp account to an Android tablet, just open WhatsApp Settings > Linked Devices: finally, let’s scan the QR Code and your chats will start being synced between your devices. In this case, an Internet connection is needed if you want WhatsApp to copy your previous chat history on your tablet. When your messages are finally synced between your mobile device and the tablet, you can start using WhatsApp on your tablet without an Internet connection on your mobile phone.

It’s still yet to be officially released, but fair to expect if the Beta is a successful test; we may see a release candidate rollout towards the end of the year. Either way, it’s great to finally see, after a number of promises, some movement on proper multi-device connectivity for WhatsApp.
