MG Motors Australia has confirmed its local pricing for its upcoming MG4 EV, and the pricing and distances claimed are pretty decent.

Starting at $44,990 plus on-roads, the MG4 Excite features a 64kWh battery with a claimed range of 450km per charge. Stepping up to the MG4 Essence for $47,990 you get a slightly more luxurious model, but slightly less range of 430km.

At the top of the range, the MG4 EV Essence Long Range will set you back $55,990 but with a larger battery (77kWh) and a range of around 530km, you’ll be going and going like the Energizer bunny.

The 64kWh battery is also capable of recharging at up to 138kW, meaning a charge time of only 28 minutes from 10% – 80% using a 150kW DC rapid charger.

The MG4 EV is the first to use the innovative new Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) that will underpin a new generation of MGs, featuring rear-wheel drive, 50:50 weight distribution and thin battery technology. This remarkably affordable range of battery options gives customers the opportunity to find their most suitable driving specifications and price point.

Standard features on the MG4 EV range include:

  • 18-inch alloys
  • Roof spoiler
  • Digital instruments
  • Android Auto / Apple CarPlay
  • 360 degree cameras
  • RCTA & Blind Spot monitoring
  • Two-tone roof styling
  • 10.25 touchscreen
  • Wireless phone charging
  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian, cyclist and intersection detection

Deliveries of the first MG4 EVs are expected later this year. Being an EV-first design (whereas previous MG EVs were on a converted ICE design), we’re expecting a really good experience from the MG4 EVs.

Not bad when compared to something like Cupra Born pricing. Looks better than BYD too IMO.
