In the highly competitive world of flagship smartphones, the OPPO Find X8 Pro has managed to carve out a space for itself as a device that seamlessly blends cutting-edge technology, stunning design, and user-centric features. It stands out not just as a smartphone but ass a powerful companion for photography enthusiasts, productivity seekers, and tech-savvy individuals. Here’s why the OPPO Find X8 Pro is worth your attention.

Design and performance

The OPPO Find X8 Pro oozes sophistication, featuring a premium design that combines glass and metal in a seamless, ergonomic form. The curved edges, thin bezels, and lightweight build give it a futuristic aesthetic while ensuring a comfortable grip. With vibrant colour options and a matte finish that resists smudges, it’s as much a fashion statement as a tech powerhouse.

The phone’s 6.8-inch LTPO AMOLED display immediately captures attention with its clarity and vibrant colours. Delivering QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, the screen provides a silky-smooth experience whether you’re scrolling your socials or gaming. The 1,500-nit brightness capability ensures easy visibility even under direct sunlight, making this one of the best displays I’ve used in the last 18 months and potentially more.

At the heart of the Find X8 Pro lies the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a beast of a chipset that ensures unparalleled performance. Paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, this phone can handle everything you throw at it, from multitasking to graphics-intensive games.

The integration of AI-enhanced performance optimiation ensures the device runs smoothly, intelligently allocating resources to maximize efficiency. This means you get blazing-fast speeds without compromising on battery life.

Battery and Charging: Endurance Without Compromise

The 5,200mAh battery powering the Find X8 Pro is capable of keeping up with my demands on a really busy day. A pretty common theme on OPPO reviews is just how damn good the SuperVOOC charging is and I’m not going to be any different. The 80W wired SuperVOOC charger can juice up the device from 0 to 100% in just under 30 minutes, even the Anker Prime charger delivered sufficient power for a quick charge, going from 3% to 100% in 24 minutes. For those who prefer a wireless option, the 50W wireless charging capability ensures convenience without compromising on speed.

OPPO’s battery health optimisation technology also ensures the battery retains its capacity over time, extending the longevity of your investment. The problem I have with it is that the background app shutdown, by default, is pretty aggressive. This isn’t a specific fault on OPPO because everyone does it; your messages and emails will still come in, perhaps not just as quickly as you want or expect them to. The problem I have is some apps I run need to be on all the time, so when I change phones, I have to remember to turn the battery saving for that app off.

OS and Connectivity

Running on ColorOS 14 based on Android 14, the OPPO Find X8 Pro offers a clean, intuitive interface with plenty of customisation options. Features like Smart Sidebar, enhanced privacy settings, and seamless multitasking tools elevate the user experience.

ColorOS is also well-optimised to take advantage of the hardware, providing smooth and fluid performance even during heavy multi-tasking periods of time. Regular software updates and long-term support ensure you stay ahead in terms of features and security.

Coupled with the latest in connectivity, including 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. This combination delivers fast internet speed; regardless of your connection type, and reliable device connections. The addition of dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos gives a pretty impressive (given you’re dealing with tiny speakers at least) audio experience for gaming and videos.

The in-display fingerprint sensor is fast — not blazingly, but fast enough — and secure, while the device is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance, offering peace of mind in challenging conditions.

Photography: Redefining AI image enhancement again

For photography enthusiasts, the Find X8 Pro is a dream come true. The device features a triple-camera system co-engineered with Hasselblad, offering huge versatility and clarity. The 50MP main sensor, 48MP ultra-wide lens, and 64MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom work in harmony to give you stunning shots in any lighting condition with excellent colour reproduction.

The main camera’s 1-inch sensor brings a near DSLR quality photo capability to your pocket, delivering vivid colours, sharp details, and excellent low-light performance. If I may be so bold, this is a challenger to the Pixel phones low light capabilities. The Hasselblad colour calibration brings close to true-to-life hues, while the AI-assisted Super Night Mode makes nighttime photography a breeze; it’s as simple as point and shoot.

On the video front, the Find X8 Pro supports up to 8K video recording with advanced stabilisation. That’s some pretty serious chops for video capture and will undoubtedly bring it to the attention of a lot of content creators.

The 32MP front-facing camera does a great job of making selfies pretty stunning too, even my face — clearly designed for radio — doesn’t do too badly on this one by using some of the features like AI beautification and HDR for best; albeit unrealistic results at times.

The final verdict: A worthy flagship

The OPPO Find X8 Pro delivers on all fronts, combining the latest technology with thoughtful features that make everyday usage simple. Whether you’re into photography, a gamer, or simply someone who wants a reliable, capable and stylish phone, the Find X8 Pro exceeded my expectations.

While it competes in the high-end segment, the feature set it offers — in my eyes at least — creates a value that justifies its price. With its gorgeous design, excellent camera capabilities, and robust performance including battery life and charging, the OPPO Find X8 Pro sits comfortably among the benchmark devices for flagship smartphones.
