At CES today, Alcatel OneTouch has released details of the new Pixi 4 phones, phablet and tablet which they teased the other day.

The Pixi 4 range come in a range of sizes ranging from the 3.5″ though to 4″, 6″ and finally 7″ with the Pixi 4 (7) device which is effectively a tablet with GSM connectivity. Alcatel OneTouch has advised that while the three smaller Pixi 4 models will launch with Android 5.1, the Pixi 4 (7) will launch with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), though no release dates have been announced so this is probably an indicator of a break between availability between the 3 smaller devices.

Spec wise, the Pix 4 range comes with dual and quad-core processors, with only the phablet sized Pixi 4 (6) actually getting a named processor, in this case the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210. The rest of the specs are indicative of where Alcatel OneTouch will market their handsets, though the lower end device market is quite lucrative and Alcatel does quite well in this market.

Alcatel OneTouch has included expandable storage on each model in the Pixi 4 range, an attractive option especially on the larger screened phablet and tablet models. Also included as a benefit for usability on the larger screened models is double tap to wake. Alcatel OneTouch has also advised that battery life has been improved by up to 25% on the Pixi 4 line.

Availability in Australia, or indeed any market hasn’t been announced at this stage, but Jason will be checking out the new Pixi 4 range at the Alcatel OneTouch Booth while he’s at CES and he’ll be sure to be asking when we’ll be seeing these great looking phones down under.
