It looks as if Huawei is adding an 8″ tablet to the list of goodies they are bringing to IFA in Berlin this year. WE just spotted the Huawei MediaPad T2 8″ Pro passing through the FCC approval process.

The Android-powered tablet is the successor to last years T1 model that was announced at IFA. The Huawei MediaPad T1 8″ Pro is available on Australian shores, making it one of the few Android tablets that every actually sees Australian soil. Unlike most fillings we got a little more detail from the tablet, we are expecting to see:

  • 8″ IPS LCD display
  • FHD resolution 1920 x 1200, @ 282 PPI
  • Snapdragon 616 4 x 1.5 GHz + 4 x 1.2 GHz processor
  • WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
  • Bluetooth 4.2 LE
  • 8MP rear facing camera
  • 2MP front facing camera
  • 6450 mAh battery

With those specs, we should expect to see it include 2GB of RAM and 16MB of internal storage – we’re hopeful of a microSD card slot too. Overall the T2 is an upgrade all round from the original T1 model. We’ll be watching Huawei’s event at IFA with interest. With just over 2 weeks until the event, it won’t be long now.

“16MB of internal storage” 16GB?

Mate, that is obviously a typo but I remember purchasing a 16MB IBM Big Foot hard drive for my computer. Was massive capacity back then. Ah! Those were the days.
