Many of us here at Ausdroid consider the Huawei Watch to be the undisputed king of the current crop of Android Wear devices. As best described in our review of the device Dan Tyson had this to say, “The Huawei Watch is absolutely beautiful, it’s well designed and built with premium materials, it’s got some beautiful watch faces, it’s step tracking is pretty decent and it looks fantastic with a dress shirt and suit.”
One issue for some buyers with the Huawei watch is that it is at the higher end of the current smartwatch price range in Australia, even on discount it can be fairly pricey ranging from $536 to $971. There are grey import options and online resellers, however, you may run the warranty risk buying from such places.
Typically, Amazon.com have strict shipping restrictions for most tech products, meaning that if you want to buy from Amazon direct you need to use a shipping forward to post to Australia. However, if you buy the Huawei Watch with US warranty – meaning you will have to pay to ship it to the US is you have issues – they will ship it to your door. What’s better is its got a fairly hefty discount, $259.32 – $661.86 USD (including shipping) which is $340 – $863.34 AUD at the time of writing. That equates to a few hundred dollars discount on the current Australian retail pricing.
The Huawei watch was originally launched at IFA in August 2015, so we may be seeing a new version in a little over 3 months. However, unless the new Snapdragon Wear processors are something special or a major new feature, such as NFC for instance – please Google – is announced the original Huawei watch should still last you well into the future.
Have you been wanting a Huawei watch but been held back by the price? How does this deal tempt you? Let us know in the comments.
What’s the difference between the US and International versions (apart from no warranty and more expensive)? Will the cheaper US version be okay here in Australia?
No difference, except you’ll have to have a US to AU adapter for the power plug, or buy a second charger
Any chance you guys will get the Tag Heuer Connected to review?
Unless they give it for free to review
We’ve been trying to get a review unit, but they’re pretty scarce.
