We first reported on more concrete evidence of the Motorola XOOM 2 yesterday when pictures of the device surfaced on the internet. Now This is my next have come through with the goods by getting some more solid details on the device. It’s said to be 9mm thick; there’s a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, with evidence pointing towards a TI OMAP 4 chip; the rear camera will shoot 1080p, so it will definitely be at least 5MP up to 8MP; faster RAM of the 1GB quantity; and the battery is said to last 11 hours.
But that’s not all. The XOOM 2 is expected to be the first device to ship with Adobe’s upcoming Flash 11 release. Motorola may also have this device sync up wirelessly to applications they’re building in-house. The last interesting element to this device is that it will have an IR Blaster — as odd as the original XOOM having a barometer — which may be used to control home automation appliances. Cool stuff.
Hey Buzz,
Thanks for the review. Do you know if the Xoom 2 has a Barometer sensor like it’s predecessor? Or has it been dropped in favor of the IR blaster you mentioned above?
Thanks
Looks nice, but the lack of a quad core CPU could be the one aspect which holds it back from being a significant upgrade in the tablet market.
