Lenovo’s moudular smartphone, the Moto Z will be getting its Nougat update next month according to Motorola.
In a statement to Android Central, Motorola advised that the update would be available for unlocked Moto Z handsets in February, while the Moto Z Play will get its Android 7.0 update in March. The time-frames are based on the US handsets, of which the Verizon branded Moto Z has actually already received its update.
On our shores Motorola isn’t as certain the update will hit at the same time as US handsets get their Nougat update, telling Ausdroid that they have ‘no definite news on dates for Nougat in Australia as of yet’ for either handset.
Motorola did advise that they would give us a heads up when the update was ready to roll. The update may get trialed first in the US before a more global rollout, so any issues may be nailed before we see Nougat here for the Moto Z or Moto Z Play. We’ll update if any more information comes to hand.
I’m using an EU version of Moto Z in Australia and received my nougat update 2 weeks ago.
Using the EU version of Z Play and no Bought yet. Sitting on Nov. Security patch
Great to hear; they have been doing the occasional security update at least, which is good to know – as much as it SHOULD be expected.
