As expected, alongside the launch of Android Wear 2.0, LG has announced their new Android Wear watches with the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style now official.
Both watches have the same 316L Stainless Steel body with Gorilla Glass 3 covering their P-OLED displays which include an ambient light sensor underneath the display – that’s right, no flat tyre. Under the hood, a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor runs the show with 4GB of onboard storage.
Both watches will use wireless charging, though the battery is different for each model. Each watch has Wi-Fi & Bluetooth built-in as well as an accelerometer and gyroscope, but the sensors and connectivity then broadly differ.
Both watches will of course be running Android Wear 2.0
LG Watch Style
The LG Watch Style is the smaller, more ‘stylish’ of the watches with a 1.2″ 360×360 resolution display. The Style comes with the option to change bands at will with standard 18 mm bands. Available in Titanium, Silver and Rose Gold, the Style should be quite the looker.
While the Style looks great, it’s not got all the features of the LG Watch Sport. The smaller Watch Style has only 512MB of RAM, and has no heart rate sensor or NFC and comes with a smaller 250mAh battery. The watch is also only IP67 compliant, but you should still be able to splash water on it.

LG Watch Sport
This is the flagship launch for LG with the LG Watch Sport coming with all the bells and whistles. The Watch Sport is larger to contain the extra specs with a 1.38″ 480×480 resolution display that will be available in either Titanium or Dark Blue. The Watch Sport also has no changeable bands, so you’d better like the TPU band you buy with it.
The specs on the LG Watch Sport include 768MB of RAM as well as a 430mAh battery. The Watch Sport also comes with 3G/4G radios to keep you connected everywhere. You also get GPS and a Barometer for better location tracking and a heart rate monitor, and of course NFC for using Android Pay..

Availability
The watches will go on-sale from the 10th of February in the US via the Google Store where the LG Watch Style will sell for $249US while the LG Watch Sport will sell for $349US. The LG Watch Style will also be available from electronics retailer Best Buy in the US, while the LG Watch Sport will also be available from carriers AT&T and Verizon in the US.
The watches are confirmed to be coming to Canada, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, UAE and the U.K. ‘soon’, however as we confirmed with LG Australia, the watches won’t be making their way down under.
If you want one of these watches, you’ll have to resort to shipping forwarders, or you should see them cropping up on eBay or other online marketplaces soon.
Really keen on LG Watch Sport in Dark Blue but its not coming here :'(
I hope the unswappable band is more comfortable than my current LG G Watch.
nope these are DOA google/LG missed the boat also where is the swimming support come on Google.
Stay clear of all things LG, their post-sales support is downright horrible. Besides, they’ll launch a new model in the next 3 months and disband previous models.
YMMV, my post-sales support from LG has been good on the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Nexus 5X hasn’t bootlooped yet so can’t say I’ve seen much from that end.
Will LTE work if we grey import? Is it an esim?
Unclear. The FCC tested LTE Bands 2, 4 and 5 when they went through last month. Of these, only 5 (Vodafone 850MHz 4G band) really gives us anything. Are they the only bands? Not sure, the FCC usually only tests bands relevant to the US market.
Basically, I`m importing a Sport, I`ll throw a SIM in it and we’ll see.

Not impressed me as it’s made by LG. I will wait for Huawei watch 2.
What a poor decision not to include NFC on the style. Hopefully there will be an option to get a watch with NFC without LTE soon
Cannot change the band on the sport? What happens when it breaks, do you through it in the bin?
Doesn’t seem like a good idea.
Edit: just read the band has hardware in it (part of the radios) so that will be an expensive replacement and when LG no longer support the watch your in trouble. Could make it nterseting when they are not going to sell it in Australia.
