Samsungs Note 8 launch next month in New York is quite exciting, but a new leak shows details on the Australian launch including a preorder date, stockists and details of new screen replacement program.
When?
It seems that the August 23rd launch date in the US will be followed closely by pre-orders for the phone going live on August 25th. That’s based on wording in a PDF outlining the new screen replacement program that Samsung seems to be launching with the Note 8.
The terms for the replacement program start at ’12:01am (AEST) on Friday, 25 August 2017′, which if the phone isn’t at least up for pre-order on that day it makes it an odd choice of wording.
Screen Replacement
Under a new program called ‘Screen Assure’, Samsung Australia will offer a single screen replacement within 12 months of purchase of the Galaxy Note 8, with the promo running until the end of October 2018.
The offer for Screen Assure offer advises a free of charge screen repair for customer induced damage, but won’t cover the rear glass or any other damage.
The only rider outlined is that it must be purchased from a registered stockist, and on that front there’s news here as well with a list of stockists.
Where to buy?
As you’d expect, the Note 8 will be made available for purchase through all major carriers including Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile. There’s also mention of Dodo, Amaysim and Woolworths as well so expect to see it on Woolworths Mobile.
You’ll also be able to purchase it through retail outlets including
- JB Hi-Fi
- Harvey Norman
- Woolworths and Big W stores
- The Good Guys
- Officeworks
- Bing Lee
- Retravision stores
- J R Duty Free
- Nuance
- Betta Electrical
- Dorsett Retail
- Radio Rentals
- RT Edwards RTE
- Gedd!t
- Qantas Q Store
Samsung will of course be offering the phone for sale in their Samsung Experience stores, as well as online through Samsung.com/au.
The pricing hasn’t been leaked, but a previous leak put the pricing at €999 or around $1,500AUD.
The Note 8 launch is scheduled for August 23rd in New York, and we’re expecting it to be live streamed as with most Samsung launches. We’ll be grabbing any plan or availability information from Samsung and the carriers as fast as we can.
