If you’ve been around the Android modding community for a while you’ll be aware of MIUI the customisable AOSP ROM which originates in China, you’ll also be aware that last year they announced and released the Xiaomi MI-One a dial core phone which also ran MIUI. They’ve just announced the successor the MI2 which from the looks of things is a monster at least hardware wise. It does seem to sport capacative buttons on the front rather than the software buttons from ICS and Jelly Bean but some people are dead-set against software buttons.

The best part of this whole deal is it will sell for 1,999 Yuan or roughly $302AUD this is of course based on whether you can get one, the original was available but you did have to do some work to get it. I imagine the MI 2 will be probably just as hard to get but at that price it’s worth putting in a little bit of effort to find it, the phone will go on-sale in October so you have a couple of months to brush up on your Mandarin to start searching those Chinese websites. Also remember that warranty for any phone purchased in China could be a bit of a worry, but again, that price!
