Much like Play Music, family accounts offer all members their own account without interruption and – quite importantly – without the threat of your own automated playlists being polluted by the musical tastes of your family.
Spotify has seen an opening in the market to offer a smart connected speaker, the Google Home Mini as sign up bonus for master account holders to start, or compliment your smart home setup:
Starting today, we are teaming up with Google to give Spotify Premium for Family master account owners in Australia a Google Home Mini as part of their subscription. Now, music lovers across generations will be able to share their favourite music with the entire family, simply by asking their Google Home Mini powered by the Google Assistant.
For those who haven’t ventured into family accounts yet, for $17.99 per month everyone in the family gets personalised Spotify accounts and they’re leveraging this through Google Assistant to ensure that everyone has access at a simple command “Hey Google” to their preferred music and playlists.

In a house like mine where there’s music playing pretty much anytime anyone is awake, I couldn’t agree more.
Thankfully, Spotify has also taken care of their existing family user base with the ability to sign up for a Google Home Mini at spotify.com/au/family until the 14th of May, so don’t waste any time!
