Following on from the earlier Pixel 4a render leak that we saw, we may now be getting some leaked hands on images including a few feature an updated ‘carpet bag’ looking fabric case.
While these images look very close to what we are expecting, we’d recommend a small dose of salt, just in case.
As you can see from the images there’s a lot of similarities with these images and the previous renders. We are seeing the top left punch hole camera, white power button on a black SKU, single rear camera, rear fingerprint sensor (yay) and a 3.5 mm headphone jack aka courage port on the top (double yay).
The fabric case seems to be a new finish with these images showing a more “carpet bag” finish rather than the sleek clean fabric finish we’ve come to expect. Personally I don’t care for the change, but I’m sure other will.
We continue to only see rumours and leaks about one size of the Pixel 4a — no Pixel 4a XL information has done the rounds yet. It’s looking more likely that Google may be removing the consumer choice from what is arguably their most competitive hardware offering?
We have a prediction: if there is only one size of Pixel 4a, regardless of what size that is, there will be outcry of both it’s too big, and that it is too small from the interwebs at large.
We were expecting the Pixel 4a to launch at the now-cancelled Google IO in May. It’s unclear if this release window will stay on track or if the change to Google IO – or perhaps even Covid-19 – may affect those timelines.
