If you need a new phone that’s good but don’t want to spend your whole next pay packet, TCL’s three new models are worth a look.
TCL’s company mission is “Display Greatness” and each of the TCL 10-Series smartphones takes advantage of TCL’s tightly integrated ecosystem by using TCL-built screens and TCL NXTVISION, a proprietary advanced display and camera visual technology to bring images to life with the claim of truer colour, clarity and contrast enhancements in real-time.
Unlike some other brands that prefer a saturated look, TCL says it’s display technology generates cutting-edge colour accuracy so users cannot see a perceivable difference between real life and the images on the screen.
The 10 Series also has an SDR to HDR real-time conversion feature, providing HDR-like video enhancement with brighter highlights, darker shadows, increased contrast and amplified colour.
TCL 10 5G
The TCL 10 5G is the company’s first 5G-enabled smartphone and is designed to bring the benefits of 5G connectivity to consumers looking for something modern and affordable.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7-series 5G SoC, the TCL 10 5G delivers increased data bandwidth for faster uploads, downloads and upgraded Wi-Fi connection stability. The TCL 10 5G comes with a large, modern 6.53-inch FHD+ Dotch display, providing an impressive 91 percent screen-to-body ratio.
On the back, the TCL 10 5G sports a quad camera setup that includes a 64MP high resolution main camera, a 118-degree ultra wide-angle camera, a macro camera that lets users take super close-up shots at only 2cm away, and a depth camera for professional quality photos with Bokeh.
The TCL 10 5G’s front facing 16MP camera ups the selfie game with its 4-in-1 big pixel technology that automatically combines four pixels into one to produce brighter selfie photos and improve low-light capabilities.
Additionally, the TCL 10 5G comes with a large 4500Mah battery promising a full day of phone use and Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. It also features OTG Reverse Charging, turning the phone into a portable power bank to charge small items or help a friend in need if their device is low on battery.
The TCL 10 5G will be available in Australia for a price yet to be determined.
TCL 10 Pro
Featuring a sleek, TCL-made 6.47-inch FHD+ curved AMOLED display, the 2020 iF Design Award- and 2020 Red Dot Award-winning TCL 10 Pro delivers a wide range of colour clarity and sharp picture resolution.
It’s curved design allows the screen to “fall” off the edge with minimal bezels to achieve a high screen-to-body ratio and includes Edge Bar shortcuts to quickly access apps one-handed. A fingerprint scanner sits under the screen enabling you to quickly unlock your phone.
By leveraging NXTVISION technology to produce nearly accurate colours and enhanced image and video quality, the TCL 10 Pro joins a select group of smartphones that are Netflix-certified to stream HDR10 videos. This unlocks a wide range of HDR content with increased contrast and enhanced colours at an affordable price point.
AI-powered imaging technology in the TCL 10 Pro produces photos and selfies rich in clarity and colour in low light. The 10 Pro comes with four rear cameras, including a 64MP high-res camera, 2.9μm big pixel low-light video cam, 123-degree super wide-angle camera and macro camera, as well as a 24MP front-facing camera.
Additionally, it features a hybrid auto focus solution for a fast and crisp shot day or night. For more creative videographers, the TCL 10 Pro includes super low light video and super wide-angle video capabilities for high-quality creative video content.
The TCL 10 Pro will be available in Ember Gray and Forest Mist Green colour options in available in Australia from Q2 2020 for $899 AUD.
TCL 10L
The TCL 10L offers quality features and design that can fit even the smallest budget. It pairs 6GB RAM with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor that comes with an AI platform for fast performance and low power consumption.
The TCL 10L features an immersive experience with its 6.53-inch FHD+ DotchTM display with a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio. Rounding out the visual experience the TCL 10L also comes with four rear cameras, along with a 16MP selfie camera that are all powered by AI technology to recognize and enhance scenes and objects for the best creations.
Just because it has a budget price doesn’t mean the 10L misses out. On the contrary it has the same software smarts as the rest of the 10 series:
- Programmable Smart Key – can be customizable in three ways – single, double, and long press – to activate apps such as the camera or Google Assistant.
- Super Bluetooth – Push the limits of audio-streaming by connecting up to four Bluetooth speakers or headphones to share music with friends for the ultimate dance party (or silent disco party)
The TCL 10L will be available in nature-inspired Arctic White and Mariana Blue colour options on sale in Australia starting in Q2 2020 for $499.
Will they have Android One? So you can get up-to date, urgent, security updates from Google just like Apple phones?
This, I believe is much more important than fancy features. Nokia owner.
I’ve asked to find out for you
Is there any accessories for these phone ?????
Or just like the TCL Plex “zero” cases or covers available .
TCL say they rely on 3rd parties to make cases for their phones and they say these were available for TCL PLEX through such 3rd parties.
I’m guessing they mean 3rd parties like sellers on eBay and Amazon. I haven’t seen any 3rd party TCL cases sold retail
Now when will TCL import some of the excellent TVs they sell in the US, like the excellent 6 and 8-series? When I moved to Australia, TCL was my go-to brand, but sad to see only low-end TCL TV models available here. Check the rtings.com TCL TV reviews for what we’re missing here.
Yes the Android and Roku powered TCL TV’s sell very well in the USA. Shame the models they sell in Aus aren’t as good
These seem pricey to me?! $900 for a SD 675 and 6GB or RAM? What am I missing that a current ~$500-$600 phone doesn’t have such as the Realme XT, OPPO A91, Samsung Galaxy A51 and OPPO Reno2 Z?
The TCL 10L at $500 is a bit of a joke too… An SD 665 can be found in a $300 Realme 5.
Good luck with that TCL, I’m not aware of anyone lining up to buy a TCL phone so price is king when trying to get your foot in the door.
Cheers
the rounded out deal is what matters I think. the TCL Plex did well in reviews and people loved what TCL were able to do with an IPS panel – phones manage to stutter on flagship chips sometimes and both Xiaomi and Realme phones can have strange quality control/software issues (trust me, Im trying to rationalise buying one cause my Note8 has been busted for months) TCL had massive discounts on the Plex BTW – its very hard to buy now because it launched at 500 and recently was on sale for 250 Im interested in the 10 5G model… Read more »
