NITV is adding a range of children’s programming to its channel line up to help parents provide an escape to vast corners of the country, and adventures galore through the SBS On-Demand app and through its Freeview/free-to-watch channel on channel 34.

The first show, Thalu, premieres on April 20 and is a live action show that focuses on a group of Indigenous children in the Pilbara region of WA, who undertake a journey to save their Country from the threat of a mysterious dust cloud and its inhabitants, the Takers.

The friends must make their way to the ‘Thalu’, a place of great power, in order to stop the cloud before it destroys everything in its path. Along the way the friends will encounter both new friends and foes as they search for eight sacred stones along with a special key that will unlock the power of the ‘Thalu’ and stop the Takers in their tracks.

Thalu features an array of famous Indigenous actors and comedians which include Elaine Crombie, Derik Lynch, Hunter-Page Lochard, Aaron McGrath, Tricia Morton-Thomas, Gabriel Willie and Trevor Jamieson.

Other shows to be featured on NITV and SBS On-Demand will include Logie award-winning series Little J & Big Cuz which follows the adventures of Indigenous Australian kids Little J and Big Cuz living with their Nanna and Old Dog. With the help of Nanna and their teacher Ms Chen they learn about culture, community and country.

There is also Future Dreaming, a program which enables viewers to step into a time-warping dream bubble, four young Aboriginal Australians guide audiences through their futures in a VR intergalactic adventure.

All these programs will be available through the NITV Freeview channel 34 or through the SBS On-Demand app now to help keep both parents and their kids entertained during the Covid-19 lockdown.
