Samsung last week confirmed that 20 Samsung Galaxy devices are compatible with their recently-launched Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit smartwatches.
Unlike last year’s Galaxy Gear, which only worked with the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, there’s now 12 compatable smartphones and 8 tablets.
Users with compatible devices can now download the latest versions of the Gear Manager or Gear Fit Manager apps from the Samsung Apps store.
The full list of compatible Galaxy Smartphone devices are:
- Galaxy S5
- Galaxy Note 3 Neo
- Galaxy Grand 2
- Galaxy Note 3
- Galaxy S4
- Galaxy S4 mini
- Galaxy S4 Active
- Galaxy S4 Zoom
- Galaxy Mega 6.3
- Galaxy Mega 5.8
- Galaxy Note 2
- Galaxy SIII
And tablets:
- Galaxy Tab 4 10.1
- Galaxy Tab 4 8.0
- Galaxy Tab 4 7.0
- Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2
- Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1
- Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4
- Galaxy Note Pro 12.2
- Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition
Last year’s limited device compatibility left a bad taste in many mouths, so while you’re still limited to Samsung’s own Galaxy devices, it’s good to see a larger range of devices supported this year (in fact, we’re testing the Gear Fit with a Galaxy S4 Mini).
We’ve also seen that the Gear Fit can work on non-Samsung devices including the HTC One (M8), although you should be aware that some features may not work if you go down this road.
Do you own any of these devices? Does this make you more likely to purchase a Gear 2 series smartwatch? Let us know in the comments!
Why doesn’t the Samsung Gear 1 work with the Samsung A3 running KitKat 4.4.4?
is it realy possible that gear 2 can be used with grand 2
isn’t this old news? i’m prettey sure this was stated on their website way long back
