At some point in the last 36 hours, an update to Android Auto and Gooogle Maps has provided a useful new feature. Users who have Maps running, will get audible alerts as they approach speed or redlight cameras.
This first appeared on my device during an afternoon drive yesterday. Initially I thought it was an alert to congestion ahead, given the time off day; a fair assumption. It wasn’t until this occurred a couple of times with no announcement or diversion options I looked at the screen.
I realised — Ok, Jo prompted me… — quickly that fixed cameras were now on the map, and that the alerts were for the cameras we were approaching. It’s a nice addition for regular drivers to add to alerts for moible speed cameras, congestion, roadworks, accidents and more.
Hey Google…
Can we have a one touch reporting button on Android Auto for these as well now, please?
