We got word that Moto G owners were receiving Android 4.4.4 last month, but according to Motorola Australia the rest of the series – Moto E, Moto G 4G and Moto X should all have receive the update now as well.
According to Motorola, the update which reafirms their ‘commitment to offering its users a pure, bloatware-free and seamless Androidâ„¢ experience’, includes ‘an extra layer of security for browsing web content on your phone’, if that’s not a complete enough explanation for you though, Motorola has also listed a complete changelog – for the Moto X at least – over on their support page. The update include :
Android™ 4.4.4, KitKat® | Android 4.4.4, KitKat, is the latest release of the Android platform. This release includes accuracy improvements to the power profile, several stability, framework and security fixes including update to OpenSSL. |
Camera – Improved image quality | Improved camera image quality including better consistency of exposure, more realistic flash colouring, improved photos in low light conditions using front camera. |
Camera – Pause video recording | Added the ability to pause video recording with a convenient pause/resume button on the viewfinder. |
Updated Phone dialler | Updated Phone dialler with a new graphical layout and colours to improve consistency and usability. |
Enables Motorola Alert Application download | New Motorola Alert application sends periodic alerts with your location to your selected contacts. Now available for download from the Google Play Store. |
You’re probably best off downloading the update on your WiFi connection if you’re at all worried about data charges on your phone plan. The update should appear as an OTA notification in your notification tray, but if not, you can always go to Settings > About phone > System updates and check for updates. If you’re presented with a Download prompt this is when you should make sure you’re on WiFi. Once installed you should be right to go, but expect your phone to reboot. If you do have any issues, head over to Motorola’s Help page for more information.
Yep my Moto G 4G has 4.4.4. Very happy with this phone. 🙂
This is SO impressive of Motorola, keeping up with Nexus like update timeframes – a very clever move
