Google Art Project Chrome Extension
Google appears to be making a small push with their ‘Google Art Project’, yesterday they released a new Android Wear watch face, and today it’s a new Chrome Extension, both of which are designed to get art in front of your eyes.

The latest addition is a Chrome Extension called ‘Google Art Project’. It turns your blank tabs into a stunning virtual canvas showing great artworks from artists such as Van Gogh, Degas and Monet and Google also promises you’ll see ‘other iconic artists from museums around the world’.

The artwork is refreshed every day, or you can actually go into the extension settings to display a new piece of art every time you open a new tab.

If you like the idea of a little fine art culture in your browser, head on over to the Chrome Web Store and install the Chrome Extension.

I like the idea, but I can’t use it in practise. The default new tab page shows my bookmarks toolbar, which is generally what I actually need when I open a new tab. The artworks page doesn’t show this, only my top visited sites.
