Google has today announced that they will be expanding their third-party Google Now integration that was introduced back in January.
Beginning with just over 30 original partners, the list of third-parties with the ability to add cards to your Google Now stream has grown to just over 100. There’s a long list of new partners, which include the likes of ABC News(the US one), Feedly and Circa, which will bring you breaking news, but also more inspiring apps, like AllRecipes to let you know about the recipe of the day. There’s even fitness integration from Runkeeper, Jawbone and Adidas to prompt you to run that new recipe off.
There’s a lot of new apps included and you can view all the partners on the Google Now page, or check out the range of new cards on the Google Now Cards page.
There’s a lot of US based companies in the mix, which is understandable but it would be nice to see some Aussie apps like Pocket Casts get an inclusion for a pop-up reminding you to download the latest episode of the Ausdroid podcast – and that may happen, with Google advising ‘Stay tuned as we add more apps and functionality in the future!’
These cards will begin appearing once your Google App updates to the latest version, which should happen quite soon – so keep an eye out for the prompt to update.
What other third party apps would you like to see gain access to your Google Now stream?
Forget Pocket Casts, I want Pocket Weather! So sick of getting inaccurate information from weather services that know stuff all about how Australia’s weather systems work.
Who care about Google?
Seeing other sports apps, this would be a nice way for us to get AFL integration into Google Now, finally!
AFL would be good. Still not appearing though 🙁 Also soccer for some of the ‘lesser’ leagues would be good. Unless my team makes it to the EPL anyway, then I don’t care :p
