Samsung’s newest mid-range phone is now on sale in Australia, with the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime at JB HiFi for $399 outright. Announced in September 2016, the J5 Prime features a 5-inch display at 720 x 1280, with Android 6.0.1 out of the box. Powering the J5 Prime is a quad-core 1.4GHz processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, with a 13MP rear camera.

Samsung advertises the J5 Prime as having a sleek look and feel, which it definitely looks like it has, with a great camera (and a nice bright aperture), fingerprint unlock and a reasonably sized battery.

For those looking for many of the features of this year’s flagship phones — good camera, fingerprint security and more — at a fraction of the cost, the Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime looks like a great option.

You can buy one at JB HiFi today in store or online.

Really surprised this came out in Australia.

Would definitely buy it but I’m too used to compact phones (Z5 Compact)

If the navigation buttons were on screen it would probably make one handed use that little bit easier. Every phone should have the option for on screen buttons if the phone has physical buttons.

As Android Pay rolls out across the land we get another phone that cannot use it. NFC seems to be the first thing dumped to cut costs. Not just Samsung. Nearly all the cheap Chinese phones do not support NFC.

+1, no NFC no buy
