ZTE are beginning to make waves here in Australia and they could well be set to unleash a tsunami in 2017 with some new phones, headed up by the new Blade V8 Pro, announced today. While the name is long winded, the specs are certainly impressive.

The main feature of note is a dual 13MP lens camera on the rear of the device with “blazing fast” shutter speeds the dual lens camera promises great depth of field in photos. The front facing camera is a not-too shabby 8MP.

Powered by a 2.0GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm® Snapdragon 625 with integrated Qualcomm® Adreno™ 506 GPU the phone arrives with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage memory. The display is a 5.5in 1080P display covered with Gorilla Glass 3.0. It has dual SIM capabilities and one of the SIM slots can alternatively be used as a microSD card slot.

The battery is a 3140mAh battery that promises all day power and is charged through it’s UBB Type-C port using Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology. With NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, along with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4GHz & 5GHz there isn’t much this phone is missing.

Launching with Android M in the next few weeks this phone promises to be a great allrounder. While it may not be the high end flagship such as the Pixel XL you can bet that with ZTE manufacturing it the price will be extremely competitive. Hopefully an upgrade to Android N for it is planned in the not too distant future.

We get many questions regarding phones in the mid range here at Ausdroid. I think this could well be yet another phone to throw into the mid-range dogfight.

At this stage, ZTE’s advice is that the Blade V8 Pro won’t be coming to Australia, but future variants of the Blade V8 probably will.
