As we ‘march’ closer and closer to the expect launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9 range in month or two we are getting closer to knowing all there is to know about Samsung’s 2018 flagship device. Now it seems that someone has managed to get a little hands-on time with what’s said could be a Galaxy S9+ engineering prototype.

Why all the conditional language? Well, put frankly, we think this is a fake.

First up, the display isn’t curved; it looks more like what’s found on the HTC U11 or Pixel 2 XL. The raised edges make it appear as if the screen is curved, but as you can see from the video, the actual display panel is laid flat (you can see this when he tilts the phone).

There’s also no Samsung apps inside the app drawer, a telltale sign that this thing is a Chinese knock-off. There’s also the fact that this phone looks significantly fatter than any modern Samsung phone, and doesn’t look like it has any of the polish. Having held and used Samsung engineering samples before, this definitely isn’t one of those.

Regardless of this poor fake, the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ are shaping up to be great successors to the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 lines and will more than likely be one of the most important and influential Android devices of 2018.
