If the announcement of system wide Emoji support in Android 4.4 was a defining feature of the update for you, you’re still out in the cold when using keyboards such as Swiftkey. We asked Swiftkey about Emoji support in their excellent keyboard replacement App, but they didn’t answer, but it appears they’ve been innundated with requests for the feature and they’ve advised this morning that Emoji will be coming to Swiftkey.

Ben Medlock, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, for Swiftkey, updated their Support page this morning with the announcement, listing the feature suggestion as ‘Planned’ :

Hi all,

Just to reassure you that we’re listening, and now working on this feature. Thank you for supporting us and for your excellent ideas and suggestions.

There are no time-frames attached to the update, but we can only hope that the update will be coming soon and we’ll be adding smileys of all types to our day to day text with Swiftkey keyboard shortly.

Are you a fan of Emoji?
