Network Ten have launched their own official Sochi 2014 App, which seems to be taking on Samsung’s own app called Samsung WOW (Wireless Olympic Works).
Network Ten Chief Digital Officer, Rebekah Horne has stated that:
“Our strategy is to bring Network Ten’s content to people anywhere, any time and on any device, and the XXII Olympic Winter Games is no exception.”
Continuing on, Horne said:
“Through our digital platforms, we will be able to offer Australians a viewing and engagement experience like no other. Users will be able to access exclusive and engaging content and watch live coverage on the go, never missing a moment of the action,”
Sadly, Ten’s app only officially supports the following devices:
- Samsung Galaxy S2
- Samsung Galaxy S3
- Samsung Galaxy S4
- Samsung Galaxy Note 2
- Samsung Galaxy Note 3
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10″
- Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
- Samsung Galaxy Note 8
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7″
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1″
- Google Nexus 7, and
- HTC One.
Despite the short list of devices with official support, the app isn’t limited to installation on those devices.
Would you consider downloading the Sochi 2014 on Ten? Will you be watching the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics and cheering Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oi, oi, oi?
app installs but doesn’t work. get stuck at a list of videos (main screen?) with a spinning TenPlay logo. Maybe it doesn’t like the ART runtime (ie, want Dalvik)?
yes it’s ART. the app is written in Mono which is not ART compatible. switching to Dalvik allows it to work for me.
The play store says it’s compatible with all of my devices, and I have a 2012 Nexus 7, a Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S listed in my devices. Installed fine on both the N7 and N5
Nice app. Works ok on my Nexus 7 2013…main problem is have is that I was hit with a 30sec ad right before the first video I was going to watch… A bit over the top…
Wonder if those who are reverse engineering it to remove restrictions will be able to remove the ads…. At least you tube let’s you skip the ad after only a few seconds.
Thanks Scott.
That explains why I get the stream error. I run ABP on my tablet. So the pre-roll ad stream Is being blocked, and because that can’t play, nothing will.
Loaded up and working fine on my Motorola Xoom tablet.
Installs on my Bauhn WL -101GQC tablet, but the videos refuse to play, claiming a ‘Failed to open the stream error’.
Installs on my Nexus 4
I can install on my Galaxy Nexus and original Asus Transformer
Installed from Google play and works for me, Nexus 5.
Much Wow
Go team Doge!!
APK anyone?? You know…for science?
