Swiftkey
Since their recent update, which not only upped the version number to v5.0, but also introduced a theme store while at the same time dropping the price to free, the Switftkey keyboard has unfortunately been a little laggy. The latest update unfortunately pauses while you type and the load time hasn’t been great either. Well, today, those laggy bits should disappear, at least according to the latest blog update from Swiftkey.

Swiftkey has advised that the latest update (Version 5.0.2.4) will include fixes for those laggy bits, as well as including three new languages: Kyrgyz, Tajik and Turkmen, and Emoji prediction for six more languages: Arabic, Czech, Greek, Hebrew, Polish and Russian. The full list of improvements included in the update are:

  • Improved typing performance
  • Improved some translations
  • Improved keyboard loading time
  • Improved Flow performance
  • Fix for the bottom row being hidden in some devices
  • Fixed Yahoo! personalization
  • Fixed background disappearing issue in some themes
  • Fixed some other force closes and crashes

Now, when Swiftkey dropped the price from $3.99 to free, they introduced a theme store where users could purchase new looks for their keyboard, making the app you probably use the most on your Android device a lot more personal. There’s five new themes that Swiftkey have added to the theme store: Spotlight Purple, Edge Green, Pulse Yellow, Pulse Pink and Hazy Pink. To celebrate, Swiftkey is discounting a range of themes in the store by 33%, in certain countries – yes, Australia is included, with Swiftkey offering Theme packs discounted from $2.99 to $1.99.

You can check out the theme store by holding the ‘123’ key in the bottom left hand corner of the keyboard, then press ‘Themes’ then ‘SwiftKey Store’.

The update is apparently available in Google Play now. If you haven’t checked it out yet, jump on over and see what you think.
