Australia Day
In time for the upcoming public holiday on Monday, Google has launched their Australia Day sale on Google Play. There’s a range of discounts on offer, as well as just showing off some Australian made content.

Google Play Movies and TV has a lot of great Australian content included, there’s a number of Movies on-sale like The Castle and The Man From Snowy River for a reduced price, and there’s also discounts on TV Shows like The Slap, Housos and Summer Heights High.

The Australian Music scene hasn’t been forgotten, with Google Play Music featuring albums from the singing budgie Kylie Minogue’s self-title debut album through to more recent albums like Jessica Mauboy’s Beautiful. If you’re wanting to check out more, Google has also taken time to produce a playlist in Google Play Music with their Top 100 Australian songs, to see how they go against Triple J’s Hottest 100 which airs on Monday.

The Triple J app is also featured, maybe to remind you, you can listen to the Hottest 100 through the app while on the move. But there’s other apps showcased such as Fish Out of Water from Halfbrick Studios and goCatch Taxi tracker, and our personal favourite: Pocket Casts.

There’s some great Books available from Australian Authors like Brett Lee’s autobiography, The Gold Rush by David Hill or Bryce Courtenay’s Jessica.

In Newsstand you can check out all the titles from great publications like The Australian or The Daily/Sunday Telegraph.

The Credit Card has received a bit of a workout already, but we’re still looking at all the great stuff on offer. Head on over to Google Play and check out all the great deals now.

Pity Kylie Minogue and and Jessica Mauboy make bad music. What about Tame Impala? Why are we so quick to pick the big name mainstream artists?

    Daniel Tyson

Because I have no idea who those people are. I literally do not listen to music. I have podcasts and my Google Play Music history is full of standup comedy.

    ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

You are missing out. How do you not listen to music at all?

    mrjayviper

even if you don’t mean it, you do sound like a hipster. it is what it is…

    ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I only say that because anything remotely out of the ordinary is considered hipster these days. It’s lost all meaning.

    cheebs

Coincidentally, saying the word ‘hipster’ has lost all its meaning is also very hipster-y in itself.

    ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Not at all. Considering it’s true. Apparently having a differing view on something means you’re a hipster by default.

    ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Do you personally genuinely hate music? And I’m all for science, and I’ve taken note, but studies have often been very wrong.

    Daniel Tyson

It literally does nothing for me, it’s noise. All i`m saying is trying to force your notion of enjoyment – “You are missing out” – onto me is not really something I appreciate.

    ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Not really forcing my opinion. Just something I can’t understand because I enjoy it so much. I don’t know why you’re getting so offended.
