Facebook is introducing a new app from their Facebook Creative Labs today called Hello. Hello is a dialler at its core which will leverage your contacts from Facebook to let you see more about who is calling, letting you choose to block people, as well as find information on people and places.
The information is only as invasive as you let your Facebook settings be normally, or as Facebook put it ‘people will only see info they could otherwise find on Facebook’. To control that information, Facebook has also included a number of privacy settings to make it easier to control what information you share.
The point of Hello is to provide a seamless service for interacting with your friends though, letting you use Messenger to quickly call or text someone. Facebook wants you to be able to get suggestions from your friends then be able to find information about say a restaurant and then be able to look up information about that place, then maybe call to reserve a table all from one app.
But it’s also about sharing caller information. Facebook Hello will show you all the information about a caller that’s publicly available to you, and you can, if you want, block that person.
The Google Play listing shows off the full list of features available on Hello:
