Google has today announced some more features for Maps, with some interesting new updates surrounding your contributions to the Maps platform.

The announcement lists three main focuses for the update, which has to do with your published photo spheres and the Views profile, which was taken offline as part of a broader update to the Maps platform and features. The announcement from Google+ announces three new updates effective from today:

  • More exposure for your new Maps profile (see “Contributions” from the maps.google.com side menu)
  • More exposure for all photo spheres you associate with Maps listings
  • Better integration with the rest of Google Maps

There’s more controls and tools coming though, including three new features being pegged for release in the near future, including

  • Displaying the total number of published images in your account
  • Showing your total view count
  • Adding more ways to publish and geotag images
  • For those of us who love to create and share photo spheres this is great news. If you’re new to shooting photo spheres, check out this video from Google Australia:
