What’s a Wednesday without an update to some Google products? The Gmail team today announced two new features are coming to Android – Rich Text Formatting and Instant RSVP.

Rich Text Formatting integration is fairly straightforward – you’ll see new buttons in your email compose interface that will allow you to add bold, italic, underlined, coloured and highlighted text to your emails. Now you can add extra emphasis to your emails while on the go, plugging a longstanding gap in Gmail’s mobile feature set.

You don’t get all the formatting options, though – you’ll still need to paste URLs in manually for links. Font sizes and bulleted/numbered lists are also still missing.

Along side the enhanced formatting options, Gmail also added ‘Instant RSVP’. This rather handy feature allows you to review your daily schedule from within Gmail to determine if your latest invite request conflicts with your busy schedule.

Instant RSVP is currently compatible with Google and Exchange calendar invitations.

These changes are rolling out now, seemingly in typical stage-by-stage fashion, to Gmail installations around the world.

How useful will these new options be for you? Which one are you more excited about? Tell us in the comments!

Would love them to start putting the attachments at the top of the emails instead of the bottom.
