Google Calendar

Being the person to have to coordinate a meeting between multiple people with conflicting calendars is one of the least rewarding tasks on the planet. It seems Google agrees with this sentiment and today has taken a big step forward in taking the pain and hassle out of diary coordination.”Find a Time” is a new simple one press button in Google calendar that lets you automatically find that ideal time to have a meeting.

Unfortunately, for those of you out there who want to jump in and start quickly scheduling those poker catch-ups with your friends, there’s a few only’s here. At launch, the new feature only works with Google Apps for Work or Education accounts and is only available via the Android app.

It’s not hard to see why Google isn’t allowing just anyone to find a free time in your diary automatically as it could be a privacy concern for your personal account. Google announced that an iOS version is in the works as well as an easier way to schedule from the web.

No specific mention was made regarding if this feature needs to be authorised by your system administrator, so we’re assuming it doesn’t. The feature wasn’t live for us this morning so we expect the update to be the typical Google couple of days staged rollout.

Let’s hope next will be integration with “OK Google”, where you ask for an appointment with your invitees and the app takes care of the rest.

Is this a feature you would want? Let us know below.
