Google Duo

For those of you who are anxious to try Google’s new Duo video calling app but were frustrated not to be able to get it on day one, be frustrated no more. Overnight it seems Google has flipped the switch and it’s now live in Australia.

We’ve been testing duo since it launched and have found it to b a reliable, if simple, video calling app. As a single purpose app it’s fine. However, it is also a single device app as well. You can install Duo on as many devices as can take it, but you can only have you account active on one of them at a time.

If you’re interested in Google Duo, grab it now from Google Play and check it out for yourself.

I want Allo! Hurry up Google!

TT

Only two contacts installed it.

My guess is it will grow.

It’s basically a wrapper on a WebRTC connection – which means a browser based app would be perfectly possible, as would a Chromecast option. And Apple have added WebRTC to Safari.

They will have to sort that silly phone number ID though.

I really hope allo and duo can have native apps on Mac instead of web app.
