Twitter is only too well aware that there’s a number of different ways to discover what’s new, what’s happening right now, and what’s going to matter tomorrow using their enormous social media service. There’s your timeline, of course, curated by you, there’s Trends to show you what people are talking about in droves, Moments to show you curated content prepared by others, and there’s Search, to find whatever you want.

Twitter thinks that’s too many things to expect people to manage, and so they’re rolling it all into one, announcing a new Explore tab to house Search, Moments, Trends, and the best of live video. Here’s what it looks like on Android (on the left) and iOS on the right:

These changes arise from user feedback; users have found that it’s difficult to find exactly what they’re looking for on Twitter, and the new Explore tab should make this just a bit easier. Because it puts curated content right alongside trending content, and the ability to then search for things right there, user feedback was that this was much easier.

To be clear, nothing is going away; Twitter is just moving where things are found, and making things perhaps a little more coherent. Of course, to take advantage of this, you’ll need to be using Twitter’s official mobile apps — if you use a third party app (like many power users do), this change won’t really affect you.

Keep an eye out, as this new feature should be live very soon.
