Skype has announced new features for users of its beta preview version, including in-call reactions, retooled searches, and a few other odds and ends. The move brings Skype into line with a number of other instant messaging apps which offer similar features now.

So what are these new features? Skype is testing in-stream reactions which kind of work the same way as how live video streaming currently works with Facebook and Periscope; it allows users to enable them and add emoji, text and photos in the middle of typical Skype video call/livestream.

Skype Chat will also be getting an integrated camera and Slack-like messaging reactions. For example, if you quickly swipe from the side of the screen, this would enable to bring the camera button up, therefore allowing you to take a quick selfie snap and drop it right in to your chat window.

Lastly, Skype Chat in the update is getting a new “Find Panel” which it basically works as a quick search hub for finding and sharing links, movie times, GIFs and other tidbits from the web. If you then swipe left on the device’s screen and the chat window to try out the “Find Panel” search tool function within Skype.

As stated, these features are only available to those users who have downloaded and are taking part in the Skype Preview app which you can download via the play link below. You will just need to follow the prompts to sign up and the once done, you can begin trialling these new features. Though like any preview/beta app, just be aware of any bugs or issues you find and report them back to Skype so they can get them fixed before these features roll out to the main Skype app altogether.
